After 32 laps of the circuit of La Conca, 40 km, the Super KF final delivered its verdict, crowning Sauro Cesetti on Birel / Parilla. The mechanical breakdowns were numerous in the suddenly cold temperatures.

Armand Convers lost the advantage of his place on the front row from the first corner: he dropped to 8th. Cesetti led confidently, with Arnaud Kozlinski on his heels. They were followed by Zdenek Groman, Jason Parrott and Yannick De Brabander. In 6th, Manu Renaudie was forced to retire before the 5th lap, when Groman attacked Kozlinski. Around 10th position, Marco Ardigo fell back sharply.

On the 7th lap, Groman managed to pass Cesetti and took command. Behind the top three, well separated, De Brabander overtook Parrott, but soon retired. Convers passed Parrott on the next lap and Cesetti resumed the lead. The chasing pack was led by Mark Litchfield ahead of Mika Kunranta, Gary Catt, Alessandro Bressan and Aaro Vainio.

Kunranta was losing ground, which benefits Catt who passed Bressan then was still strong and took Thonon. Bressan then started to attack Catt but was forced into retirement soon after. Then Litchfield slowed and slipped down the rankings. By now in mid race, the battle was still raging at the front and Groman and Cesetti were exchanging first place under the watchful eye of Kozlinski. Convers was back to fourth ahead of Parrott.

Vainio came back to 7th place, followed by the amazing Simo Puhakka. Following that was the return of Oliver Rowland who moved into the top 10. On the 19th lap Vainio retired, then it was the turn of Libor Toman to stop while the machine seemed to have increasing perfomance. On the 21st lap, Kozlinski passed Groman so as not to let Cesetti escape. Parrott passed Convers then attacked Groman, who seemed to lose pace. Rowland stopped.

In the closing laps, Kozlinski put pressure on Cesetti, probably preparing his attack. Convers took his chance and got 3rd place at the expense of Parrott, while Puhakka closed on them. Contrary to what one might imagine, Kozlinski couldn’t safely overtake Cesetti and only secured the second step of the podium.
