Monaco : Ardigo received his prize at FIA Gala

Marco Ardigo collected his second successive CIK-FIA World Karting Championship trophy at the FIA Gala in Monaco on friday evening.

The 45th edition of the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship, which is run over one single event, took place at the Pista La Conca circuit in Muro Leccesse, Italy. Ardigo, driving a Tony Kart with Vortex engine and Bridgestone tyres, followed up wins at the European and Asia Pacific Championships with his second CIK-FIA World Karting Championship title.

Marco Ardigo said:

“It was a bit harder to win this World Championship than the 2007 one. I felt much more pressure at La Conca this year as it was necessary to prove myself by confirming last year’s title. Experience has taught me that such an event is long and one must go about it only thinking of the final.”

Albert Viglino, Manager of The Tony Kart Racing Team, said:

“This year has been fantastic for Tony Kart. We have won several important championships including The World Drivers Championship and The World Teams Cup. These victories were a result of the combined work of our drivers Marco Ardigo and Gary Catt, who won third place in the World Drivers Championship.

“Seeing two of our drivers on the winning podium at the final of the World Championship was extraordinary. Although this year’s result was the same as last years, this year’s victory was much more satisfying as we had worked hard to achieve it. We faced fierce competition and were up against teams that had made serious improvements since last year.”
