KF3 Prefinal – Maisano takes it in the final corner

A very good start for the first race of the weekend, the KF3 Prefinal, and Danil Kyvat managed to make the best start but then a dozen karts piled up at the lefthand hairpin. Brandon Maisano was by now in the lead, followed by Nyck De Vries. Then followed Kyvat, Vittorio Ghirelli, Yuri Grigorenko, Tanguy Carel, Jeffrey Schmidt and Mitchell Hale. Championship contender Guillaume De Ridder was in tenth.

De Vries took the advantage over Maisano on the next lap by outbraking him. Ghirelli was pushing the leading trio hard. Hale was attacking, along with De Ridder. De Vries and Maisano widened the gap while the field chased down Ghirelli and Kyvat. The two Maranellos were hard on the heels of the Tonykart of Ghirelli. Maisano was faster in places but waited for his opportunity to attack De Vries.

Six laps from the end, Kyvat was attacked by Hale who then took third position and De Ridder was now in sixth. Guillaume had not given up, he took Schmidt and then Ghirelli on the last lap. At the front Maisano prepared his move for several laps, looking to take De Vries at the last corner which is a large right-hand turn. The attack was expected but unstoppable and the win went to Maisano.
