KF2 Prefinal – The duel starts between Lacaze and Frijns

This was another good start, but it was an eventful race from the first corners. Kenny Vermeylen took the lead from Charles Lacaze and his rival Robin Frijns also took the Frenchman. Alban Authie took third briefly but Lacaze soon took him back. Stoffels Van Doorne was also in the mix and jumped into second.

Charles-Lacaze.jpgOn the second lap, the situation was clearer: Vermeylen, Van Doorne and Lacaze, then Frijns and the battling pair of William Benedetti and Guillaume Barbarin. Sebastien Bailly had to be delicate with his machine and was losing ground. On lap five, Lacaze again took control of the race, followed by and angry group containing Van Doorne, Vermeylen, Frijns and Authie who was well off the pace. Loic Reguillon closed on Barbarin.

Lacaze pulled away, Bailly found more speed and Authie had mechanical problems. He went back to the pits for repairs but then the kart would not start! Frijns was now in the wake of Lacaze and managed to join him on the last lap. Lacaze defended and did not allow the GKS driver any chances.

The victory went to Charles Lacaze ahead of Robin Frijns and Kenny Vermeylen.
