Mich wins and Varutti shines

The rain wanted to delay the start of the KZ2 final, and the track was wet with rain tyres essential. On the front row, Thomas Mich and Anthony Abbasse were in the lead, but Enzo Zefirini made an excellent start as usual and he attacked Abbasse on the first lap. Norman Nato was in fourth ahead of Julien Le Brigand and Morgan Weber.

By the second lap, Mich had pulled out a big gap on his rivals as Abbasse fought to regain his second place from Zefirini and further down Alban Varutti was very fast. Morgan Weber passed Le Brigand and Nato successively. On lap seven, Varutti took Nato and Weber, he was now fourth! Gianni Gazurelli was also very quick in 12th but the rising Emilien Grosso also attracted attention. After a difficult start, Emilien returned to the top ten and was now seventh.

Feeling Varutti’s comeback, Abbasse attacked Zefirini and then passed. Varutti did the same on the next lap. Often well placed this weekend, Christophe Benoit was forced to retire.Varutti threatened his team-mate Abbasse and then took him, while Grosso disposed of Zefirini whose machine had lost speed.

Mich was very far ahead and Varutti could not hope to catch up, but Grosso attacked Abbasse who resisted right up until the chequered flag. Grosso had to settle for fourth place with the fastest lap. Zefirini was fifth, Weber sixth, Demanse seventh and Gazurelli eighth.
