De Ridder at ease in the wet as always

There was no rain but the track was wet at the start of the KF3 final at Essay. Brandon Maisano led away from the start, but the Belgian Guillaume De Ridder got in front in the first few hundred meters.

Maisano took over the lead on the next lap, followed by Michael Heche. De Ridder repassed Heche and fairly quickly was back behind the leader. Jonathan Helias in fourth was clearly faster than Heche and passed on the third lap. On the next lap, De Ridder was back with Maisano and after two attempts retook the lead. Starting last after his retirement in the prefinal, Mathieu Jaminet sought to recover, his nose down on the steering wheel.

De Ridder distanced himself from his pursuers while Helias got closer to Maisano. In fourth place, Tanguy Carel moved closer to the top three. The gaps were by now important and Jaminet posted the fastest lap of the race so far. By the end of the race, Maisano was less than a second behind De Ridder and one imagined that he would try something but the Belgian controlled the race and kept a good margin.

De Ridder was the winner of the KF3 final with Maisano second and Helias third. Henry Easthope took the fastest lap.
