Stevens starts on pole

The start of the third and last qualifying heat for KF1 was under a heavy grey sky, but the temperature was relatively high. Armand Convers kept his lead while Antonio Piccioni overtook Wil; Stevens on the first lap. Davide Fore edged into fourth position ahead of Michael Ryall and Jack Te Braak.

Fore retired after one lap with a mechanical problem. Stevens had already taken Piccioni. On the second lap, Arnaud Kozlinski came back ike a rocket and despatched Te Braak. Jeremy Iglesias and Nikolaj Bollingtoft followed in sixth and seventh positions. Libor Toman retired again…

Stevens passed Convers on the fourth lap, and Piccioni did the same a few turns later, and as a result of these skirmishes, Kozlinski was closer to the top three. Sauro Cesetti, then Jean-Philippe Guignet overtook Yannick De Brabander to gain eighth and ninth places. On lap seven, Convers took second place back from Piccioni and Kozlinski was also gaining on the FA Kart driver.

Stevens-AC.jpgBolingtoft was on the rebound, successively passing Te Braak and Iglesias and the race stabilized after lap ten. Convers did not back off from Stevens, Piccioni followed Kozlinski closely and Cesetti took Iglesias in the final laps.

Stevens therefore won his second qualifying heat ahead of Armand Convers and Arnaud Kozlinski. Piccioni finished fourth, Bolingtoft fifth and Te Braak sixth. After this followed Cesetti in seventh, Guignet eighth, Iglesias ninth, De Brabander tenth, Ryall 11th and Parrott 12th.
