Despite an eight-week break since the opening round of the pan-European series, the factory Birel motorsport racer has kept him sharp. A victory in the opening round of the British KF2 championship as well as several tests in Italy with the Birel squad has kept him busy.

The 15 year-old Alpinestars-backed youngster is now fired up more than ever to make a return to the top step of the podium. The Bassingham in Lincolnshire based driver intends to come out all guns blazing as he heads back into the thick of European competition.

“I’ve been looking forward to Lonato since we finished the first round back in March. I can’t wait to get back out there and go for more silverware,” he said. “We entered the British series initially to get some more mileage under my belt and try different settings on the kart. But we’ve found more pace and everything went really well there, up until I was shoved out of the lead in the second final.

“I’m aiming to go out to Lonato and put everything we’ve learnt into place and see where it puts me. Ideally, it’s going to be on the top step of the podium again,” he added.

Jack currently lies third in the series, just two points adrift of second place. With both of the finals counting for points, Jack knows that he will need to stay at the sharp end of the field over the course of the weekend to stay in contention.

“I know that it won’t be an easy weekend,” he said. “I’m not expecting it to be. I’m sure all the other top drivers have been testing hard too. There are a lot of drivers in the class who are in their second or maybe even third year in the category and they all want to be right up there.

“Everywhere we’ve been so far this season we’ve been one of, if not the quickest in the KF2 class. The team has worked really hard on every aspect of the kart and the engines are really good. I’ve got a really good feel for what the kart is doing under me now and I’m going to aim for the top spot over the course of the weekend and the season,” he added.

Jack will take to the track for the first time on Thursday for free practice before qualifying, the heats and the finals take place on Saturday and Sunday.
