In the second qualifying heat, Jack Te Braak passed the first mark at 40kph, but the second showed 52 so the start was not given. The drivers did not seem to be aware of this and the red flag was shown to stop everyone on the line.

With the starter motors, the restart procedure is much faster, after the leaders were spoken to by the officials. It went off, but with more confusion: Te Braak went over the line at 44kph, while several drivers went well outside of their line. The race was started, and won by Te Braak before Kozlinski recovered very well, and Guignet in third confirmed the CRG’s good form. Gary Catt also made a good recovery, overtaking Marco Ardigo and Matias Laine.

The only driver to be penalised was Jeremy Iglesias, whose ten-second penalty dropped him from fifth to 16th place.
