The start of the KZ2 Prefinal was accompanied by a real deluge at Salbris. Eight drivers, including Allemann and Demanse, went off the track and did not complete a lap.

It was Anthony Abbasse who took the lead, but Thomas Mich was particularly incisive on his heels. Krypciak was third, Zefirini fourth, Ryall fifth. Mich attacked Abbasse and passed in a good move. Emilien Grosso edged into 11th position, Pierre Etienne Chaumat in 12th.

Abbasse started to loose ground and was overtaken by Krypciak and Zefirini. Abbasse re-passed, Zefirini attacked him back. Enzo resisted further attempts and ended up in the dirt, or rather the mud, at the side of the track. After a 180 degree spin he regained the track.

Before the last lap, Mich was leading and preparing to enjoy a great victory in the rain which was to break the myth that he dislikes racing on wet tracks. Pierre Krypciak was a solid second. Abbasse disappeared on the last lap after losing his carburettor and it was Kevin Ludi who took third before Stephen Nuvolini, Michael Ryall and Thomas Letailleur. Zefirini was seventh, Chaumat ninth and Grosso 11th.
