Abbasse in prefinale

The rain was still to fall on Angerville but started on the parade lap which was difficult to negotiate for drivers on slick tyres which, more importantly, were new.

Abbasse-02.jpgAlready behind the field were Bressan and Bollingtoft, whose engines didn’t start on the pre-grid but were able to resume their positions. Kozlinski went wide and lost time, Stevens did the same, while Jeremy Iglesias was already stopped on the grass.

The race finally began. Stevens visited the gravel trap and surprisingly Arno Santamato went into the lea from the tenth row. Wet tyres were necessary in the conditions and Arno took advantage of this as the track was still wet. Convers was placed far behind in second ahead of Litchfield, Abbasse and Bressan.

The light rain stopped and the track dried very quickly and everything changed again. Santamato went backwards, Abbasse took the lead, and mechanical problems forced Convers to retire. Bressan was second, Litchfield third. Guignet and Ryall fought for the fifth place. Fontner came off the track violently next to the stands and stopped in the net.

Victory for Anthony Abbasse, second was Alessandro Bressan and third was Mark Litchfield.
