The CIK-FIA sanctioned Middle East Karting Cup (MEKC) is a new professional series in the exciting motorsport of karting, considered the stepping stone to Formula One racing. It is one of only six internationally approved international series by the world federation, , the CIK-FIA and is included in the yearly racing calendar.
This championship event was launched to the regional automotive and tourism media at Cairo’s Mediterranean Travel Fair. It will serve as a critical development feeder for higher motor sport formulas for all aspiring Middle East nations seeking a place in the fast-developing motor sport world. The MEKC have created an exciting opportunity for companies seeking new mediums to publicize their products and services through to the Middle East’s fastest growing sport.
The series takes place from January to April, 2008 over three rounds: two in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and one in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
A celebrity charity race will accompany the final round of the championship.
The three categories are Juniors (13 – 16 years of age), Seniors (17+), and Masters (32+).
Engines will be Rotax Max FR 125.
Kart Rental packages are avaiiable for each race on CRG or Energy karts with mechanical assistance.
