Final of the 4 Stroke Contest

Thomas Barrow gets off to a better start and stays ahead of Claudio Mack. Giorgio Pantano tucks in behind them in 3rd place, with Aj Noud breathing down his neck. Noud attacks in one of the chicanes at the top end of the track, Pantano does his best to hold him off. But Noud gets past and Pantano drops back three places. Giacomello is coming back strong.

Lap 9 : American Kyle Ray, a quadruple champion in his own country, moves up to third place ahead of Christian Voss (who started on the 7th line on the grid), and Giacomello is now lying 5th ahead of Anthony Puppo. No sign of Pantano…
Lap 13 : Claudio Mack takes a chicane too wide and ends up in a spin. Barrow is now clear at the front of the race, a full second ahead of Voss and Ray, who are jostling for position. Behind them come Puppo, Giacomello and Negretto.
Lap 15 : Barrow suddenly eases off and lets Voss and Ray through.
Lap 17 : There’s a big scrap going on between Puppo, Giacomello and Negretto. Voss is in the lead ahead of Ray, Puppo is lying third.
Lap 20 : Voss is opening up the gap over Ray. Puppo, Giacomello, Negretto and Mahr-Graulich are in hot pursuit.
Lap 23 : The two leaders are well clear of Puppo and Giacomello.
Lap 24 : Giacomello has an argument with a Tecpro barrier and has to abandon. So the leader board reads: 1- Voss, 2- Ray, 3- Puppo and 4- Negretto.
Lap 28 : And that’s the way it stays.

At the finish : 1- Voss, 2- Ray, 3- Puppo, 4- Negretto, 5- Noud, 6- Mayer, 7- Holzkamm, 8- Nuy.

The 4-stroke boys put on a marvellous show for us, with the favourites beaten, scraps all the way through the field and a winner who started from the 7th line! What a race!
