As in previous editions of the World Final, Rotax and its three chassis partners – Sodi, Birel ART and Praga – have once again engaged in a spectacular staging of go-karts during the presentation of the equipment to be distributed by lot to the drivers. This year, an electric kart competition (Thunder) has been added to the programme composed of Micro Max, Mini Max, Junior, Senior, DD2 and DD2 Master classes.
While waiting for Rotax’s welcome party and cocktail party on Sunday night in the town of Joao Pessoa, the drivers and their respective teams got down to the final preparations for Monday’s first run.
The 367 drivers entered in Brazil are eager to discover the Paladino international circuit. Some have already done a few laps in a rental kart to take their first benchmarks. The 1280 by nine metre track has been built on fairly steep terrain. The long straight is downhill and there is a risk of needing to brake hard! The drivers then embark on a series of fairly technical turns. Some relatively fast curves lead to a tighter circuit infield. It will be necessary to have good acceleration for the following slope, especially as it is interspersed with a chicane which slows karts down, before joining the high part of the track towards the straight and the line.
