First Junior pole position for Bedrin

The Qualifying Practice for the last round of the FIA ??Karting European Junior Championship took place in very hot weather at the Essay circuit. In official Free Practice, Matthews Rees (FA Kart / Vortex) was fastest with 46”444 ahead of Alex Dunne (Exprit / TM) and Paul Aron (FA Kart / Vortex), the leader in the standings. The sessions were only used during the last three minutes by the best.

Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart / Vortex) was fastest in Session 1 and improved to 46”724 ahead of Alfio Spina (CRG / TM), but Paul Aron (FA Kart / Vortex) came back to 2nd place by a tenth, followed by Sebastian Ogaard (Tony Kart / Vortex). Marcus Amand (KR / Parilla) finished 6th by 0.276″and Craig Tanic (Birel ART / TM) 10th by 4 tenths.

 

In the second group, Kai Askey – 46”782 – outpaced Gabriele Mini’ (Parolin / Parilla) by 0.047”, and Rafael Camara took the 3rd place by 67 thousandths. Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart / Vortex) came back to 4th place by 0.180” ahead of Taylor Barnard (KR / Parilla). Elliott Vayron (Tony Kart / Vortex) was a superb 6th fastest, 0.253” off the fastest lap of the session, just ahead of Hadrien David (Kosmic / Vortex), while Sami Meguetounif (Formula K / Vortex) finished 14th by 5 tenths and Macéo Capietto (KR / Parilla) was 21st.

 

Tymoteusz Kucharczyk was the first driver of the third session to adopt a fast pace. Victor Bernier (Kosmic / Parilla) was next in the lead with a time of 46”766, 2nd in the category, followed by Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG / TM). Sebastian Gravlund (KR / Parilla) was 4th and Kirill Smal (Tony Kart / Vortex) 5th. Evann Mallet (Kosmic / Parilla) was 6th by a tenth ahead of Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart / Vortex). It was the 11th time for Isack Hadjar (Exprit / TM), and 15th for Loris Cabirou (Energy / TM), while Matthew Rees (FA Kart / Vortex) had to be satisfied with 17th place.

 

Bedrin remained the poleman, with Bernier, Askey, Bortoleto and Aron completing the top five within less than a tenth of a second.
