Sunday’s last Junior heats in Sarno

In good weather at Sarno, the drivers entered for the CIK-FIA European Junior Championship started their final Qualifying Heats on Sunday morning. The choice to mount new tyres to try and qualify, or to keep them for the Final, influenced the results.

 

Kirill Smal (Tony Kart / Vortex) won the heat E-F by a distance ahead of Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG / TM) and Josh Dufek (Exprit / TM). Sebastian Montoya (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 4th in front of Tikhon Kharitonov (Exprit / TM). Jak Crawford (Energy / TM) in 12th and Victor Bernier (Kosmic / Parilla) 13th lost many places in the fight, while Evan Mallet (Kosmic / Parilla) fell to 22nd.

 

Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart / Vortex) led the C-D heat before being attacked by Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart / Vortex) who managed to win against Taylor Barnard (KR / Parilla) and Gabriele Mini (Parolin / Parilla). Sami Meguetounif (Formula K / TM) controlled Maya Weug (Luxor / LKE) for 4th place, while Conrad Laursen (FA Kart / Vortex) had to settle for 6th place. The other Frenchmen were struggling with Hadrien David (Kosmic / Vortex) in 16th, Loris Cabirou (Energy / TM) 22nd, Maceo Capietto (KR / Parilla) 24th and Marcus Amand (KR / Parilla) 25th after a retirement.

 

Paul Aron (FA Kart / Vortex) continued his progress no problems by winning the last heat A-B in front of his team-mate at RFM Kai Askey (FA Kart / Vortex). Laurens Van Hoeppen (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 3rd ahead of Han Cenyu (KR / Parilla) while Vlad Lomko (Kosmic / Parilla) took 5th at the last corner. Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart / Vortex) had lost ground early in the race and was trying to limit the damage in 12th place. Isack Hadjar (Exprit / TM) was 17th.
