Last Friday, Charles Leclerc completed his winter physical training at the wheel of a Birel ART / TM Racing KZ at South Garda Karting in Lonato.

“I think the offseason is very long! I loved reliving the sensations of karting to get myself in condition,” declared the Monegasque. “I realised that I had missed the ambience of the paddock. The karting scene is so warm with all the friends and acquaintances we meet as if we had only just left them. I enjoyed seeing mechanics from my time at ART Grand Prix, now at Birel ART. And then Davide Foré is the team manager now, a great guy as experienced as he is friendly. We had a good chat and we promised to try to drive together next time.

The day was beautiful and the slick tyres were out on the Lonato track where Charles mingled with his colleague from the Ferrari Driver Academy, Antonio Fuoco.

There was no question of trying to chase a time,” continued the F2 champion. “I missed the track and I came for the pleasure of driving. I was able to see the excellent work done by Birel ART and TM Racing. On a physical level, I did not suffer, because I must say that I spent the winter strengthening my condition. On the other hand, my ribs and back were put to the test and I often bumped my elbow on the engine while changing gear. Fortunately everything else was automatic and I was able to drive all day. I cannot wait to find some free time to come back!
