Melo wins the final of the Academy, Handsaeme the Trophy

The start took place in the sun for the Final of the Academy Trophy on the circuit of Alahärmä, in the presence of an already substantial audience.

The poleman Francisco Melo D. Porto was followed by Suleiman Zanfari, while Xavier Handsaeme fell to 3rd position. The Belgian points leader did not take long to pass for 2nd and to launch in pursuit of the leader, already ahead by a good second. Zanfari defended his 3rd place in front of a compact group led by Ruben Moya Lopez ahead of Gabriel Nord, Jordan North, Luka Nurmi and Dylan Leger. Things did not stop there, and there was a good fight for 3rd position. In the lead, the gap varied little between Melo and Handsaeme, around 1.8 ” at half of the 21 laps, with the pack being relegated by more than 3 seconds.

Nord took 3rd place and Zanfari was pushed to 6th behind Tijmen van der Helm and Leger. Melo won the race by 1.4” well ahead of Handsaeme, who secured his victory in the Trophy. Van der Helm finished 3rd ahead of Nord and Leger, with Jamie Day 6th and Zanfari 7th.
