The 48 drivers in the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy were confronted with cool and wet weather on Friday during their four free practice sessions at the Le Mans meeting. The Swede Gabriel Nord was the fastest on the track, which was constantly wet, with 1’06”219, followed by the Spaniard Ruben Moya Lopez, the Dutchman Mike van Vugt and Finn Luka Nurmi, all in the same tenth despite limited grip. The other Dutchman Tijmen van der Helm posted the 5th best performance against Spanish Ayrton Fontecha Martinez, then the Emirati Jamie Day 7th, the Moroccan Suleiman Zanfari 8th, the Brazilian Francisco Melo D. Porto 9th and the Belgian Xavier Handsaeme 10th, 14 thousandths ahead of Frenchman Dylan Léger.

It should be noted that the Academy category, equipped with Bridgestone rain tyres, was faster than the OK-Junior and especially OK where the gap exceeds three seconds per lap.
