Four free sessions were scheduled for this 1st day of the European Junior Championship in Sarno. As usual the 1st session did not meet much success, the pilots preferring to save their reduced stock of tires. The assessment of this kind of exercise is purely indicative according to the strategies of each one.

Surprisingly, two TM engines hit the top three with Jonny Edgar (Exprit / TM) the fastest of the day with 59”056 ahead of Kas Haverkort (CRG / Parilla) and Carles Martinez (Praga / TM) by 2 tenths. The top five drivers were Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart / Vortex) and Harry Thompson (FA Kart / Vortex), followed by Chris Lulham (Tony Kart / Parilla), Luca Giardelli (CRG / Parilla), Jack Doohan Kart / Vortex), O’neill Muth (Zanardi / Parilla) and Luca Bosco (Tony Kart / Vortex) to finish the top 10.

Jules Mettetal (Kosmic / Parilla) was in a very interesting 11th position, Andrea Rosso (Tony Kart / Vortex), one of the favourites, ranks 16th, Leonardo Marseglia (Zanardi / Parilla) 18th, Elie Goldstein (Kosmic / Parilla) 19th, Loris Cabirou (Sodi / TM) 21st, ahead of Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Mattia Michelotto (Zanardi / Parilla).

The breakdown in the groups, drawn by the innocent hand of a machine, will have some importance on Saturday morning for Qualifying Practice, as the first session may not be advantaged by driving on the rubber deposited during the KZ warm-up which will precede it on the track.
