Mission accomplished for the first season of the OK generation

Simplification, streamlining and cost reduction were some of the priorities that guided the thinking of the CIK-FIA Working Group for more than three years before delivering the precise characteristics of the new engines. The OK name refers directly to the Origins of Karting.

The aim of reinvigorating Competition Karting with direct drive and restoring the international categories to their place in national championships across the world is being realised in practice. This major shift is also intended to broaden the base of participants at all levels.

Technically the aim of simplification concerned the removal of the clutch, starter, battery and harness, non-essential sources of excess weight and elements with a risk of failure. A small automatic decompression valve facilitates the classic push start. The minimum weight has been lowered, including in OK where the removal of front brakes favoured the increase in performance while finding the purity of driving of the original karts.

From the first races of the year, the karts started easily and safety on track presented no problems. The new OK engine concept immediately convinced Drivers and observers. The international season has confirmed the validity of the technical regulations which gave birth to these engines. The quality of racing as well as the number of participants has convinced even the most sceptical.

OK: the window into Karting

With its powerful engine reaching a maximum speed of 16,000 rev / min and its minimum weight reduced to 145 kg, the OK category provides a level of performance never achieved in direct drive karts. The Drivers’ enthusiasm for these captivating machines was immediate in International Competition.

Immediate success for OK-Junior
Very close to the popular KF-Junior which had proved its worth, OK-Junior has attracted a large number of Drivers throughout the season by further increasing the potential from its predecessor thanks to its ease of use.

The OK generation is now well established internationally. It has also started to gain a place in national racing successfully in some countries.
