Final victory for Els in Mini Max

There was great weather at Sarno for the Mini Max Final at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals of 2016 with Thomas Nepveu and Hadrien David on the front row. Nepveu maintained the advantage initially ahead of Mari Boya. David was locked out and then crashed on the bottom of the circuit, he fell to 17th. Enzo Joulié took over 3rd place ahead of the recovering Victor Bernier while Joulié dropped from 3rd to 7th. Bernier then took 2nd with Jayden Els on his tail and took the lead on lap 4. David was 16th and Joulié 18th. The top three attempt to escape ahead of the pack, but in vain. Els took 1st place on lap 6 ahead of Hugh Barter and Luka Nurmi with Nepveu 4th and Bernier 5th after a stint in the grass. Els took off, while Nurmi, Nepveu and Bernier competed for 2nd place. Bernier set a fastest time by taking 2nd place ahead of Nurmi and Nepveu. Els was 1.2 ” ahead, but not immune from attack and remained under pressure. Nurmi took 2nd position at the start of the last lap. The battle moved up a notch in the final metres. Els won against Nepveu and Nurmi with Bernier 4th. Ziggy Kermanshaschi moved up to 5th, Deukmedjian Arias 6th. 11th was the final position for David and 12th for Joulié.
