Euro Genk: Lorandi and Vigano win the KZ2 Prefinals

Rain was not forecast for the Prefinals of the European KZ2 Championship at Genk. Alexander Schmitz (Birel ART / Vortex) kept the lead in Prefinal 1 but Fabian Federer (CRG / Modena) was right behind him. Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 3rd ahead of John Norris (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Dominik Schmidt (CRG / TM), while Stan Pex (CRG / Vortex), after a bad start, moved up to 6th ahead of Pierre Loubère (Sodi / Parilla ). Lorandi took control on lap 3, Federer dropped to 4th. The differences increased from halfway between the top four. In a big surprise, Federer retired on lap 8: his title hopes vanished. Norris was increasingly threatening for Schmitz’s 2nd place. Felice Tiene (CRG / TM), starting last, returned to the top 10 with the fastest lap. Norris attacked Schmitz at the start of the last lap and took 2nd place by 1.1 ” from the winner Lorandi. Schmitz was 3rd, Pex 4th, Tiene 8th with 19 seats gained and Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / Vortex) 10th with a gain of 9 positions, Loubère 11th, and Nicolas Picot (Tony Kart / Vortex) 13th.

Vigano wo ahead of Matisic, Corberi was 3rd, Mosca 4th and Irlando 5th. Thomas Landias (Tony Kart / Vortex) qualified 13th, Paul Fontaine (Sodi / TM) 15th, but Leuillet finished 20th.
