European Championship: review of official free practice at Zuera

Friday morning, in the second session the fastest times were recorded, the third and fourth sessions being slower. Noah Watt (Tony Kart / Vortex) set the fastest lap of the day with 1’01”575 ahead of Isac Blomqvist (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Ugo De Wilde (Kosmic / Parilla). Sami Taoufik (FA Kart / Vortex) also showed his reputed consistency. Other good performers included Mikhail Simonov (Tony Kart / Vortex), Teddy Wilson (CRG / Parilla), Timothy Peisselon (FA Kart / Vortex), Fin Kenneally (FA Kart / Vortex), Alessandro Giardelli (Tony Kart / TM ), David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex), Charles Milesi (Tony Kart / Vortex), Dennis Hauger (CRG / Parilla) … in short, no real surprises.

Note the good performance of Esteban Muth (CRG / Parilla), a newcomer on the international scene.

From the French, Theo Pourchaire (Kosmic / Vortex) was on the pace, Thomas Mialane (Energy / TM) showed good speed, as the did the newcomer Pierre-Louis Chovet (CRG / Parilla) and while Victor Martins (Kosmic / Parilla) was not completely satisfied, Theo Nouet (Energy / TM) and Gillain Henrion (Kosmic / Vortex) were moving in the right direction.

In OK only four drivers have managed to lap in less than a minute. Logan Sargeant (FA Kart / Vortex) was the fastest of all – 59”732 – even managing this performance twice. He leads overall from Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Parilla), Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) and Noah Millel (Kosmic / Vortex). But that doesn’t show how close the positions were between Bent Viscaal (Tony Kart / Vortex), Marta Garcia (Evokart / Parilla), Karol Basz (Kosmic / Vortex), Christian Lundgaard (Ricciardo / Parilla), Clement Novalak (Tony Kart / Vortex) … Alexandre Gadois (Kosmic / Parilla) was noticed with an excellent time in the final session. Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer preferred to give up to speed his recovery.

KZ is certainly the category in which free practice is less indicative of the rest of the competition, but it can still be interesting, if only to compare with the Qualifying to come on Saturday .The fastest time on Friday was by Marcus Armstrong (Tony Kart / Vortex) – 59”200 – ahead of Patrik Hajek (Kosmic / Vortex), Paolo De Conto (CRG / Maxter), Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin / TM) and Andrea Dale (CRG / TM). At over three tenths from his young teammate, was Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) hiding his speed? Find out on Saturday morning …
