2015 CIK-FIA Best-Of: Vortex, a winning machine

Five major titles were added to the fantastic record of Vortex engines in 2015, an OTK Group company: World Champion and European in KF-Junior (Logan Sargeant and Christian Lundgaard), World Champion in KF (Karol Basz ), European Champion in KZ (Flavio Camponeschi) and winner of the International Super Cup for KZ2 (Thomas Laurent).

For Vortex, it’s a constant challenge to remain at the highest level, regardless of the category to which our brand is committed,” said Roberto Robazzi, the Chairman of OTK group. “The Research and Development department is working hard to achieve the best ratio between maximum performance and reliability. Each homologation period represents a new challenge for Vortex.

Success on all fronts

Year after year, many teams and independent drivers rely on Vortex. “This season, our official teams have won numerous successes and titles, but one of our prides its that it is clear that Vortex enables many other teams to win,” adds Roberto Robazzi. “RFM has again won the World KF-Junior Championship. Ward Racing has won the European Championship in KF-Junior. The Cédric Sport team dominated the Final of the International Super Cup in KZ2. This is clearly a demonstration of the quality and competitiveness of our products.

New engine, new challenge

In early 2015, Vortex celebrated its 20th anniversary since the first homologation of engines in Junior Intercontinental A and Formula A with the CIK-FIA. “Actually, the factory was established in 1994. Today it employs 30 people and its area is about 2000m2. We are located in Pavia, south of Milan, while the other OTK Group factory, which produces the Tony Kart, Kosmic, FA Kart, Exprit and Redspeed chassis, is based in Prevalle, near Brescia.”

10 different models now emerge from the engine production lines, with some variations depending on the version. New benchmarks will appear on January 1st, when the OK and OK-Junior engines come into force. “We are very excited to meet this challenge. These engines do not represent a revolution, but rather a modern version of a product that has contributed significantly to the greatest pages in the history of karting. They will be simpler to operate and will help reduce purchase and maintenance costs. We hope that new national championships will be reborn with this type of engine.

For Vortex, customer satisfaction and victory are perpetual goals …
