Champions Cup: RFM takes pole in OK-Junior with Taoufik

The weather was fair and cool with a dry track for the Qualifying at the 2016 WSK Champions Cup at Adria. Temperatures, however, have increased from free practice in the morning.

Charles Milesi (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Timothy Peisselon (FA Kart / Vortex) battled at the front of the first-OK Junior group close to 50”0. Victor Martins (Kosmic / Parilla) took 1st place less than a minute from the end, then was dislodged by Peter Ptacek (Formula K / Parilla) by a thousandth with a 49”930. Milesi posted the 3rd fastest time in front of Bogdan Fetisov (Tony Kart / TM) and Caio Collet (ART Birel / Parilla). Peisselon was 6th and Theo Pourchaire (Kosmic / Vortex) 11th. Milan Petelet (Praga / Parilla) took 13th on the approach to the chequered flag.

Ulysses De Pauw (Birel ART / Parilla) moved ahead of the second group two minutes from the end, but Sam Taoufik (FA Kart / Vortex) managed his session impeccably to complete the last lap in the slipstream behind De Pauw to take pole, 19 thousandths faster with 49”546. Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart / Vortex) made his appearance in 3rd position ahead of Rasmus Lindh (Ricciardo / Parilla) and David Vidales (Energy / TM).

The second group proved considerably faster than the first (0.384” apart) who suffered from running on the 60 Mini rubber. Taoufik, known last year as the surname of Worship, took pole ahead of De Pauw, who dominated during practice, Ptacek finished in 8th place which was a pleasant surprise. Confirming his speed during the start of the meeting, Martins was the top French driver in 9th position, Milesi was 12th, Peisselon 16th, Pourchaire 33rd, Petelet 36th, Franck Chappard (Kosmic / Vortex) 37th, Gillian Henrion (Kosmic / Vortex) 48th, Thomas Mialane (Energy / TM) 49th, Theo Nouet (Energy / TM) 60th.
