The duel was on from the start between Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) and Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) in the KZ2 Prefinal at the WSK Gold Cup at Adria, with Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) in ambush in 3rd. After Saturday’s heats, there didn’t appear to be team orders between the two drivers from the Tony Kart team, which could spice up the race. Indeed, Ardigo was the quickest to jump at the lights and Thonon managed to retain 2nd place ahead of teammates Jorge Pescador and Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla). Camponeschi recovered and attacked Hajek. In a surprise on lap 4 Pescador overtook Thonon for 2nd place. Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla) dropped to 11th and Lorenzo Camplese took 6th position in front of Stan Pex (Intrepid / TM) and Maik Siebecke (CRG / Modena). Thonon took 2nd place, followed by Camponeschi who also passed Pescador.

At the halfway point, Ardigo led by 6 tenths ahead of Thonon, Camponeschi, 4/10 further back, was the fastest on the track. He attacked Thonon and took second on the 12th of 16 laps. The result was now fixed, Ardigo won the Prefinal ahead of Camoneschi, with Thonon in 3rd, Pescador 4th, Camplese 5th, Hajek 6th, Jorrit Pex (Intrepid / TM) 7th and Lammers 8th.
