Three free practice sessions of 20 minutes were on the timetable for the first day at Sarno for the 41 contenders for the KZ World Championship and the 96 participants in the KZ2 International Super Cup. There was sun and summer heat at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli who have switched back from the ‘Veloce’ configuration used in 2013 to the classical 1699m track. Three more 15-minute sessions await the drivers on Friday before the start of qualifying.

Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) set the fastest time of the day in KZ – 1’06”067 – 0.054′ faster in the last session than Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) and 0,187′ ahead of Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla). Just before that, Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) had the fastest time of the session – 1’06”278 – ahead of Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex). Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla), Felice Tiene (CRG / Maxter), Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM), Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM), Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE) and Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) were among the fastest in the class. Note that Tom Joyner, still recovering from his accident at Esssay, isn’t participating in the competition.

In KZ2, Andrea Dalè (CRG / Maxter) was the fastest – 1’06”030 – not only of KZ2, but the fastest of both categories. Andreas Sebastian Hansen (Tony Kart / Vortex) was very close, two-tenths ahead of Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) and the surprising Kenny Charles (Kosmic / Vortex). Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart / Vortex), Fabian Federer (CRG / Maxter), Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Maxter), Jan Midrla (Birel / TM), Jorge Pescador (Praga / Parilla) and Alberto Cavalieri (GP / Modena) completed the top 10. Nicolas Gonzales (Alpha / Maxter) and Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex) were the top French drivers on Thursday.
