Great victory in the KF final for Lorandi at La Conca

Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / TM) and Julien Darras (Kosmic / Vortex) were on the front row for the KF final, at the first meeting of the WSK Champions Cup 2014 at La Conca. Martijn Van Leeuwen (Zanardi / Parilla), Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex), Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex), Egor Stupenkov (Energy / TM), Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) and Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart / Vortex) filled the following three rows, while we were also planning to watch Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) and Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) on 9th and 10th on the grid. Penalized incomprehensibly in the prefinal, Gabriel Aubry (Tony Kart / Vortex) was on the penultimate row.

Lorandi escapes in the lead followed by Van Leeuwen, while Darras found it hard to get a gap and dropped to 8th. Nielsen took third position ahead of Basz, Stupenkov, Joyner and Ilott. Van Leeuwen went off at high speed into the chicane, not seriously, but lost a lot of time. Basz attacked Nielsen for 2nd place, Darras moved up to 5th on lap 4. Lorandi was out in front by 1.2”. Aubry, although he gained more than ten places at the start, he then dropped to the back of the pack and eventually retired. Nielsen took second place from Basz, Darras closed on Joyner and passed for fourth. Ilott got the better of Joyner on lap 9, then Mazepin passed Pulcini for 8th place. Ollie Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) had a problem and retired but his brother Lando moved up into the top 10.

On lap 12 passage Ilott passed Darras again for 4th place. The duel continued between Nielsen and Basz, allowing Ilott to infiltrate into third position behind the Dane. With 5 laps to go, Lorandi had a lead of more than 2”. Basz took 3rd place from Ilott, Joyner, in 6th, was back with Darras. At the beginning of the last lap, the chasing pack consisted of Basz, Nielsen, Ilott, Joyner and Darras. But the final attack saw Darras finish fourth ahead of Joyner and Ilott, while Lorandi won the race without hesitation ahead of Basz and Nielsen.
