Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE) made excellent starts for the KZ2 Prefinal, but Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) retained his lead position with accuracy at the first corner. But Iglesias didn’t wait long to take the lead of the race, followed by Ardigo. Thonon was in 3rd place ahead of his teammate Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla). Both Pragas then passed Ardigo. Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) moved up to fifth ahead of Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM), Riccardo Negro (Top Kart / TM), Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) 8th and Douglas Lundberg (Alpha / TM) in 9th.

Thonon and Hajek were running together at the front before the Czech rider retired on lap 8. Iglesias regained second place ahead of Pex and Negro, with Hanley 5th, Lundberg 6th, Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) 7th, Ardigo 8th, Mirko Torsellini (ART GP / TM) 9th and Camponeschi 10th. Ardigo had a problem and retired on lap 12. The French driver Charly Bizalion (Alpha / TM) had gained more than 10 places to 14th. Thonon escaped from Iglesias in 2nd place and Pex’s control was overcome by Hanley on the last lap. Thonon won the prefinal ahead of Iglesias, with Hanley 3rd, Pex 4th, Negro 5th and Lundberg 6th by 6/100 with the fastest lap of the race. Dreezen finished 7th, Torsellini 8th, Camponeschi 9th and Fore 10th.
