The weather was beautiful and quite warm on Friday during timed practice for the Rotax Winter Cup 2014. With temperatures of nearly 20 ° in the afternoon, the conditions at Campillos were more pleasant conditions than earlier this week.

Leader of the faster overall group 1, the Austrian Thomas Preining (FA Kart) set the fastest time out of the 51 Junior drivers, with 1’06” 163, ahead of his teammate in the TKP team, Dutchman Richard Verschoor (FA Kart – Team TKP) by 0.167”. The British driver Zak Fulk (Tony Kart – Coles Racing) took 3rd place from the Estonian Juri Vips (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) and the Spanish Marta Garcia (Zanardi – MGL Xtreme Racing). Louis Ferdinand Simmenauer (Tony Kart – Jana Racing) produced the best French performance in 11th, Enzo Coursimault (Kosmic – PKS) was classified 18th, Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart – Jana Racing) 24th, Hugo Chevalier (Tony Kart – RK competition) 28th, Vincent Marserou (Tony Kart – Kart Racing Suau) 35th, Tom Lledo (Tony Kart – Kart Racing Suau) 40th, Antoine Perceval (Tony Kart – Drivers SG) 42, Tristan Carpenter (OTK – DSS) 43rd and Emilien Carde (Kosmic – Matec) 47th. Even if they were not all celebrating, this is the first time we have seen so many drivers in this category that does not exist in France.

The British driver Joseph Reilly (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) was fastest in the Senior category against 52 strong competitors. With 1’04” 919, he beat the Dutchman Dries Vanthoor (FA Kart – TKP) by 0.134”, then the British drivers Zhou Guan Yu (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing), Jai Nijar (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) and Jack Constable (Tony Kart – Protenza Motorsport). Eva Benes (Kosmic – PKS) was credited with the 22nd lap, the best of the French drivers competing ahead of Bastien Leguay (FA Kart – Kart DSS) in 26th, Corentin Collignon (Zanardi – MPK Racing) 38th, Cecile Martini (Sodi – Martini Racing) 39th, Vincent Fraisse (Sodi – Sodi) who had not expected to be so far back in 43rd position, Julien Falchero (Kosmic – Sonic Racing Kart) in 45th, Kevin Petit (Sodi – Pro Kart Racing) 47th and Nicolas Picot (Sodi – Pro Kart Racing) 48th. Apparently, it was not going well in the French clan yet …

The Briton Sean Babington (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) took the lead in DD2 with a fastest lap of 1’03’487”, but the Belgian Xen De Ruwe (ART GP – Art Grand Prix Team) was just 3/100 behind and the Spanish driver Oriol Dalmau Caballero (Tony Kart – Motor Club Deportivo Creix) by 6.8 cents. The Swede Andreas Backman (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) was in 4th place by over two tenths ahead of Dutchman Lorenzo Van Riet (Formula K – Brand Racing / FK Factory). The battle of Berezina for the French saw the highest ranked of them 24th, Christophe Adams (Kosmic – Sonic Racing Kart), with the sixth fastest time in Masters, Franck Rouxel (Sodi – Shop Sodi) in 26th. Anthony Abbasse (Sodi – Sodi), Alexis Coursault (Birel – Sologne Sport Tech) and Guillaume Berteaux (Birel – Kartagene) were not classified because they were underweight.
