World KFJ Sarno: wet Saturday morning heats

H4 A against C

The rain started to fall moments before the start of the first heat on Saturday morning, but the track was already wet during the warm-up after rain in the night. Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) was caught in the last practice lap and spun near the start line. Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart / TM) took the lead ahead of Benjamin Lessennes (Kosmic / Vortex) and Bryan Elpitiya (Energy / TM). Matteo Raspatelli (Kosmic / Parilla) dropped to the back of the grid. Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) was in fourth position and the exceptional Norris had gained back a big part of the delay. Jules Bollier (Kosmic / Parilla) was very fast and took fifth position, Maxime Potty (Kosmic / Parilla) 7th ahead of Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla) who had lost a lot of ground on the first lap. Elpitiya attacked Lessennes for second place at the halfway point. Shwartzman escaped and won the race by more than 2” ahead of Elpitiya, who was fastest, Lessennes third, Mazepin fourth, Bollier 5th, Norris sixth and Lorandi seventh.

 

 

H5 B against F

It was a difficult start in the rain, with minor incidents at the first corner and hairpin. Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart / BMB) took 3rd, 7 ahead of Sasakorn Chaimongkol (Kosmic / TM) and Sergio Sette Camara (ART GP / Parilla). Gabriel Aubry (FA Kart / TM) moved up to fourth ahead of Gabriel Sereia (Birel / Parilla). Sette Camara dropped out on the second lap. Sitnikov had a lead of 8.6” on lap three and Chaimongkol recovered to second position ahead of Max Defourny (Kosmic / TM), Aubry and Sereia. It was a disappointing race for Jehan Daruvala (FA Kart / Vortex) who lost a lot of time on the first lap, Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Remigio Garofano (Tony Kart / LKE) who lost too much ground, Defourny dropped to 18th position with two laps to go. Sitnikov had and incredible victory by more than 18” ahead of Sereia then in 3rd Petru Florescu (Tony Kart / Vortex), the fastest, Aubry fourth after doing well. Pulcini finished ninth, Defourny 13th behind Daruvala.

 

 

H6, D against E

Daniel Ticktum (FA Kart / Vortex) took the lead on the first lap, Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla) was still second, but Mick Betsch (Tony Kart / Vortex) suddenly appeared in 3rd after starting 21st! Lorandi fell to 21st on the second lap and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart / Vortex) lost second to Betsch ahead of Dionysus Marcu (CRG / BMB) and David Beckmann (Zanardi / TM). Ticktum got away and Betsch was very fast, Travisanutto was now ahead of Logan Sargeant (Tony Kart / Vortex) in third. There was a recovery to seventh position for Tommaso Mosca (Energy / TM) or 13 places, and eighth position for  Tolvanen (ART GP / TM), a gain of 17 places. Betsch lost second to Travisanutto with two laps remaining. Ticktum won with the fastest time and 14” lead to Travisanutto, Sargeant, Marcu and Betsch.
