Extraordinary victory for Moineault, Verstappen European Champion

Basz retained the lead, but Verstappen was second and overtook Basz on the first lap. Tiene was third in front of Boccolacci, Stupenkov and Lennox-Lamb. Verstappen went ahead by 7/10 on the first time round. Nielsen was more than 3” off his predecessor! Basz clawed back time from the leader, Boccolacci fell to 8th, Valentin Moineault (ART GP / TM) was in 6th place. Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla) sustained damage and dropped to 18th. Nielsen retired, very disappointed.

Verstappen defended from Basz, Tiene and Lennox approached, Moineault rose to fifth from Stupenkov. The title was between Verstappen and Basz who were already struggling for victory. At halfway Boccolacci returned to 7th from Maestranzi and Convers. Verstappen stayed 2/10 ahead of Basz. Moineault approached Lennox, and was the fastest on the track, Boccolacci took sixth passing Stupenkov. Unleashed, Moineault passed Lennox on lap 11 and then Tiene on the 12th.

On lap 16, Basz was again pressing Verstappen. Moineault was likely to have an influence. Lennox went fourth, forcing Boccolacci to return to the CRG. Basz finally attacked Verstappen who retaliated, which benefited Moineault who passed both.
