Split between a wet and a dry track track with all possible variations, the 21 heats for KZ2 delivered their verdict at the European Championship in Genk, with many changes from qualifying. There are still two prefinals on Sunday morning to select the 34 finalists.

Norway’s Emil Antonsen (DR / TM) has emerged as the leader with three wins but also unfailing consistency. Starting 20th, the Czech Jan Midrla (Birel / TM) also benefited from faultless heats to be second on points ahead of the Italian Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) who started 29th and is currently ranked third. Other the good performers were the Dutch driver Jules Szymkowiak (Zanardi / TM), the New Zealander Daniel Bray (GP / TM) and the Swede Joel Johansson (Energy / TM).

The Croatian Kristijan Habulin (CRG / Modena) and the Dutch Menno Paauwe (Birel / TM) each took 13 points but are nonetheless looking much better than their ninth and tenth places would suggest. In the same vein, with his 11th position, Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) is not at his level, as he is fighting for the title. In short, there will be many on Sunday who will try anything to get back in good shape for the final.

The French suffered in battle. Maxime Roy (Tony Kart / Vortex) was at the front in free practice, but is now only in 29th position, Charles Fiault (Sodi / TM) is 37th, Charly Bizalion (BRM / Modena) 59th and Clement Da Silva (Birel / TM) 61st. The game is over for Brice De Gaye and Nicolas Harmuth.
