WSK Master Sarno: A victory each for De Conto and Pex

The first heat on Sunday in KZ2 at the WSK Master Series at Sarno began with devastation: Ardigo, Verstappen, Dreezen, Camponeschi and Alguersuari did not even complete the first lap, eliminated in a big collision. Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) led the race but could never outrun his opponents. Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) robbed him of 1st place with one lap to go, but the Italian recovered and won the race. Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) was fifth then third but lost out on the last lap by dropping into the battle. Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE) still in the top 5, took third position ahead of Charles Leclerc (ART GP / TM) and Fabian Federer (CRG / Modena). Yannick Savard did not start.

Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) took control on the second lap in the second heat from Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM), with Charles Leclerc (ART GP / TM) in third position. Nicola Marcon (Tony Kart / Vortex) was well within lead group, but a penalty of 10” dropped him to 23rd position in the standings. Behind Fabian Federer (CRG / Modena) in a solid fourth, Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) returned to fifth, followed by Sauro Cesetti (Top Kart / TM) and Riccardo Negro (DR / TM). Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) started from the back of the grid and determinedly moved up to 12th position, but then dropped to 15th before finishing 13th. Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) produced the best recovery, finishing in 11th with the fastest lap, while Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) was satisfied with 15th place.
