Russell back in the race

It was with some delight that the the pressure rose gradually as the start time for the race approached. The warm-up made some confirmations and confirmed some concerns. However, new tires were fitted for the races, so everything could change, so the hope was that the quality of the Vegas is homogeneous, and that nobody would find out before the opening laps.

Dorian Boccolacci (Intrepid / TM) took pole position with a formidable opponent at his side, the Croatian Martin Kodric (FA Kart / Vortex), then Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) and Connor Jupp (Energy / Vortex) on the second row. Boccolacci went first ahead of Ilott, Jupp and Kodric, very close together. George Russell (Intrepid / Vortex) immediately started to attack, he was running two tenths faster. Ilott took control on the second lap, Russell returned to fourth. Boccolacci was clearly under-performing. Suddenly, Ilott was no longer in the game, Boccolacci recovered to the lead, but was soon passed by Russell. The race was dominated by a squad of five drivers: Russell, Boccolacci, Kodric, Jupp and Darius Karbaley (FA Kart / Vortex).

Meanwhile, Gabi Aubry (Birel / TM) was back to 9th, Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) 11th. Kodric moved into second position ahead of Boccolacci, Karbaley and Jupp. Russell got away at the front. Luca Corberi (Kosmic / Vortex) moved up to sixth Alex Palou (CRG / BMB) and Joonas Lappalainen (Ninar / Vortex). After halfway Boccolacci was reeled in by Kodric and passed him on the ninth lap. Jupp took over fourth place ahead of Corberi. Palou went into sixth position and set a record five tenths faster than the leader, Aubry moved up to 8th and Besancenez 10th after taking 4 places in a fight with Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla).

Russell won ahead of Boccolacci and Kodric, Jupp fourth, Palou 5th and Corberi sixth. Russell took the championship lead with 45 points and 40 points in front of Boccolacci, and Palou on 38 points. to be continued …
