Free practice finally began on Friday afternoon at Braga for drivers who were eager to use their equipment on the Portuguese circuit where queues have stretched on Thursday for the various formalities. The weather was gloomy but dry, the asphalt still had little grip and everyone planned to work hard in the four sessions of the day.

In the Academy Trophy, George Russell set the standard and we often hear this sort of comment in the paddock: “I was as fast as Russell in sector 1, he was 2/10 ahead of me in 2, … “. Paolo Besancenez was satisfied with his first session, with an engine that has made a good impression, but thinking he needed to slightly adjust the front, which was a bit heavy for the next session. Erwan Julé was also satisfied, fast despite only really running in two rounds before the battery caused problems.

Adeline Prudent was learning both the track and equipment, all was going well, morale was good. Noticed in the GPO, the Belgian Amaury Bonduel displayed a broad smile after a fast session despite an engine that had been barely used. His father played his favorite role effectively, as the race engineer.

Time to queue for a sandwich, good and cheap, before testing resumes.
