Remarkable Step Forward for Sodi Junior Team in Rotax

Although the Sodi official team was only at its second Rotax Euro Challenge meeting, results achieved on the German circuit of Wackersdorf were most interesting, with Lepesqueux’s 4th place in DD2 and Benisri’s 5th place in Senior.

I am really very happy with this weekend’s results” explained team manager Anthony Abbasse. “The level of the competition is very high, it has nothing to envy to CIK races. With just one type of engine, gaps are very narrow and you need to leave nothing to chance if you want to be at the front places. Chassis quality is essential, and this gives us an advantage“.

Antoine Lepesqueux did an excellent performance in timed qualifying in DD2, with the 4th fastest time, and the team was able to work serenely during the heats to refine chassis set-up. Antoine had some good cards to play at the start of the final race, which allowed him to gain ground and take a 4th place finish.

In the Senior class, Thomas Benisri, who has newly joined the Sodi Junior Team, showed great enthusiasm and continued to improve during the meeting. 15th in timed qualifying out of 72 entrants, he took an important step forward by taking a 7th place finish in the pre-final, before moving up two more positions in the final race. After a disappointing time relegated him to the back of the grid in each of the heats, the Briton Henry Easthope achieved nonetheless a prowess by qualifying, and then by climbing up 14 places in the final.

I would like to congratulate the drivers who gave their maximum effort without making mistakes in a difficult competition” Abbasse commented “But I would also like to thank the whole team for its fantastic job, both inside the factory and on site, during the meeting. We now need to continue to move in this good direction in future races“.
