The CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship will open the 2012 season of the CIK-FIA competitions. On 20-22 April, the Hockenheim circuit (in its 4,574 m long “Formula One” configuration) will host the first of the four rounds of the continental tour for 250cc karts. After the German meeting, the Drivers’ next appointment will be in July at Snetterton (GBR), then in August at Assen (NLD) and, finally, in September at Le Mans, on the Bugatti circuit (FRA).

40 Drivers are entered for the opening event (complete list via this link), in particular the 2011 season’s duellists, namely Frances’s Emmanuel Vinualès (MS Kart-DEA) and Britain’s Gavin Bennett (Anderson-DEA). 11 nationalities will be represented, Great Britain appearing as the leading nation with 11 Drivers. Chassis-wise, Anderson will represent almost 50% of the field, with 20 of its models, versus 9 PVP, 8 MS Kart, 2 Nibor and 1 USP. The most used engine will be the FPE (14 examples), ahead of PVP (10), DEA (8), VM (5), Rotax (1), Yamaha (1) and TM – the latter engine will be on one single kart but as a double-feature since the Dutchman’s Fokko Zoutman’s MS Kart is motorised by two 125cc KZ engines mounted on each side of the Driver!
