The Belgian Xen Den Ruwe (Formula K – K Formula Europe) finished in first place in the final of the DD2 Rotax Winter Cup 2012 after a battle against his compatriot Jules Szymkowiak (Zanardi – G-Star Raw Racing) in the first part of the race. Attacks, intimidation and overruns didn’t stop the two men before De Ruwe gradually got away from the eighth of the 18 laps.

Kevin Lüdi (Birel – Spirit Racing), Mario Vendla (Birel – Kartdago) and Haralds Garkaklis (Gillard – DFK) were involved in the fight behind the leading duo until Garkaklis finally dislodged Szymkowiak from second place with 4 laps to go. Lüdi took advantage of Vendla for fourth place while Paul Grainger (Tony Kart – Racing Tatum) came back after being excluded from the prefinal for a dangerous maneuver on the finish line. Antoine Lepesqueux (Sodi – Sodi Racing Team), although on the pace, took 7th place without being able to rejoin the lead group.
