CRG Already Looking to 2012

CRG’s assessment of its 2011 sporting achievements has been extremely positive. Once again it was in KZ that the Italian make achieved its best results with the World Cup for KZ1 conquered by Jonathan Thonon at Genk while Davide Forè brilliantly made it to the third step of the podium, in both cases on CRG/Maxter karts prepared by Tec-Sav.

But KZ2 drivers were equally good: Fabian Federer won the European Championship, Mirko Torsellini emerged as the best performer of the year, constantly figuring in the leading places. He won the WSK Final Cup, concluded the WSK Euro Series in second place, was third at the European Championship and he could have even won the World Cup, had it not been for a problem during the pre-final. On that occasion, Jorrit Pex took the second step of the podium and Federer joined him on the final podium on the third step. A long list of satisfactory results for CRG. 2012 official line up in KZ1 will consist of these 5 drivers: Thonon, Forè, Torsellini, Federer, and Pex.

The KF1 class also provided some good results to the team from Desenzano, such as Jordon Lennox-Lamb’s victory at the Belgium round of the World Championship, followed by Felice Tiene, who took the second step of the podium before showing his burst of speed at Sarno. The British driver concluded in beauty by claiming second place at the Asia-Pacific Championship in Macao. But CRG is not going to continue along the path of a five round World Championship that only gathers a few entrants.

Lennox and Tiene, who will also race in KZ2, will be present in the hardest fought class for karts without gearbox, KF2, in addition to a new and effective recruit, Luke Varley. Max Verstappen triumphed in KF3 at the WSK Euro Series, but was not equally successful during CIK meetings. The Spaniard Alex Palou will take back the baton this year together with a young and promising American, Santino Ferrucci.

The 2012 racing season will start soon for Giancarlo Tinini’s team: first with the Winter Cup, followed by the Margutti Trophy at Lonato, the WSK Master and Euro Series, as well as the CIK-FIA meetings (KF1 class excluded).
