It was a good start to the meeting for Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / Maxter) in the G-Phactory team, who managed to take the KZ2 pole position in Las Vegas with a time of 44”785, two tiny milliseconds ahead of Bas Lammers ( Intrepid / TM). Rick Dreezen and Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) were not far away, in the same tenth, followed by Jérémy Iglesias and Beitske Visser (Intrepid / TM).

Abbasse won the first heat, 2” ahead of Ardigo, Dreezen and Lammers. When his carburetor went down suddenly, Iglesias had to retire at the front. Visser held fifth place in front of Thomas Mich (Birel / TM) and Gary Carlton (LH / Maxter). The mystery is cleared regarding De Brabander: the Belgian is driving in both KZ2 and KF2. He was 12th in qualifying and finished 14th in the first heat.
