The Oskoui express pulls into the station

The weather has significantly improved in the late afternoon on Friday at Varennes / Allier early in qualifying for the Southern Europe Trophy. The first three groups of KF3 went onto the track at 16:30 precisely, under a slightly cloudy sky but still sunny, so that the air reached 18 ° C (in the shade of course).

Francesco Iacovacci (Tony Kart / Vortex) opened the scoring, then Antonio Fuoco (Top Kart / TM) set a significant time well under the 56” in front of Guillermo Russo (FA Kart / Vortex), Albert Gil (Tony Kart / Vortex) Simon Tirman (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Benjamin Gerard (Tony Kart / Vortex). When he went out on the track, Darius Oskoui of Switzerland (Intrepid / TM) slammed in a beautiful 55”074 that could not be improved on, either by his opponents or by the pole sitter himself  who then left the track when his radiator came off. Mattia Vita (DR / Parilla) was in 2nd position on the line from Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB) which was a dream lap of 55”094.

Group 2 was very slightly slower but not with very different track conditions. Alexander Gadois (Sodi / Parilla) and Felix Nilsson (Intrepid / Parilla) had for a moment their names at the top of the table, but Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) really started the battle with his first lap of 55” 555, followed by Alex Palou (FA Kart / Vortex), the Romanian Andrei Atanasiu (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Valentin Moineault (Sodi / Parilla). Ocon upped the pace to finish in 55”118, Moineault behind by 3 / 100 from Palou and Hubert Petit (Sodi / Parilla). Nilsson lept at the last moment from 24th to 8th position. Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) had the knife between his teeth on the final lap and shared the spotlight with Francois Bécamel (CRG / Maxter), alternating the best performance.

Besancenez raised the pressure until the final lap: 55”186, pole of his group, but not happy either! Switzerland’s Felix Hirsiger (Birel / BMB) eventually settled in second position ahead of Italian Simone Cunati (Top Kart / TM) and Florian Latorre (Sodi / Parilla) who had got faster. Darius Oskoui proved to be both the fastest driver of all and the one who spent least time on the track! Boccolacci ranked 2nd, 3rd Ocon, Moineoult 4th, 5th Vita and Besancenez 6th.
