Defourny’s First Race in KF3 Interrupted

Belgian young driver Max Defourny made his KF3 debut in the WSK Master Series at La Conca. Though ready after his good results in Belgium in 2010 and some serious training, this was certainly a hard challenge for Max given the presence of several more experienced drivers.

Driving his Intrepid/TM did not give him any problems and he concluded official timed qualifying 9th in his group – that is 26th out of 73 attending competitors – on a track that was still difficult. Then Max stayed at a good level during the heats, despite the rain.

«During warm-up, on Sunday morning, Max went off the track on a water trace left by the driver who was preceding him, explained Alain Boumal, his extraordinary technician. Then several other karts bumped into his kart, and even climbed over it. He was caught in a tangle of chassis and we got really scared. His leg and sides were hurt, so it was not reasonable to let him continue, despite his understandable willingness to do so. In addition to that, his kart was damaged».

Max decided to privilege the rest of the season and did not attend the last qualifying heat. An intelligent choice, which will soon allow him to fully exploit in Sarno the potential shown at the beginning of the meeting.
