O’Keeffe and Ivanovic in the prefinal

The departure was again the scene of a lot of action on the line and into the first corner. Ivanovic led the first  lap ahead of Fuoco, O’Keeffe, Van Meever and Pezzolla. Olsen advanced to 11th place, Verstappen was only 19th, but began a comeback. Sylvest moved into 4th place, while Olsen was back in 6th position.

Ivanovic took off with the fastest lap, O’Keeffe was not threatened, but Sylvest rose to 3rd with Olsen in fifth. By mid-race, Verstappen had dropped to 30th. By a strange oddity of computing, Fuoco was catching up and preparing to overtake himself, which is no small feat.

Meanwhile, O’Keeffe regained the lead from Ivanovic, Sylvest and Olsen. O’Keeffe won ahead of Ivanovic and Olsen. Sylvest finished 4th, Hiltbrand 5th and Fuoco, who had returned to his own identity, 6th. The racing was lively, surprising and in some ways difficult to follow because of problems with the live timing …
