Light rain fell on Lonato for some time and the KZ2 drivers were hesitating between their wet or dry karts on the dummy grid. 20 laps were planned for the first pre-final of the last day of the 2011 Winter Cup. At 1:32 p.m., the karts went out on the track. The front row was of De Conto and Visser chose slicks but there were a lot of wet tires behind them starting with the CRG of Kozlinski, but not Federer. Dreezen and Abbasse were on slicks.

3 parade laps later, De Conto took off with Kozlinski in his footsteps, but Thonon took the lead. Hanley did not start, Visser spun crossing the line first. There was a big fight between Thonon and Koko, Federer was third followed by De Conto. Federer disappeared, Piccioni moved to third position ahead of De Conto and Cesetti. Verdi was sixth ahead of Catt and Ardigo. Thonon escaped while Kozlinski defended, and it was a fight between De Conto, Cesetti and Piccioni.

Ardigo reclosed on Verdi, followed by Fore, De Brabander, Catt and Ragues. De Conto closed up to Koko, Johansson came back from the back of the pack, but was given a penalty of 15s. Federer attacked Ardigo.

At halfway Thonon held off De Conto, Kozlinski was 3rd, Federer 4th, Johansson 5th. The track dried and the hierarchy was disrupted. De Conto stayed ahead, Johansson was second on the track, followed by Dreezen, Federer, Abbasse and Cavalieri. Several drivers were already lapped and the race became difficult to follow after the top 6.

Victory went to drivers on slicks: Paolo De Conto (Energy / TM) won from Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart / Vortex), Fabian Federer (CRG / TM), Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / Maxter) and Alberto Cavalieri (Intrepid / Pavesi). For further classifications we must await the publication of the results.
