The drivers were placed on the starting grid for the KF2 World Championship Prefinal under the low sun on Sunday morning at Zuera. The public were already installed on the grandstand, but remained silent for the moment, in harmony with the tension rising on the dummy grid.

On row 14, Brandon Maisano’s eyes followed the sign “clear the track” carried by a charming Spanish girl, soon followed by the “1 minute” sign. The announcer started to bring the ambience up to an ultra-fast speed adapted to the situation to come. The 34 finalists started their two warm up laps.

Jordan Chamberlain (Tony Kart / TM) led the group, 24 km / h for the first inspection, the lights went out, go! Starting smoothly, Sebastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) led, followed by Luke Varley (Tony Kart / Vortex), Jordan King (Birel / BMB), Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) and Chamberlain. Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) was 12th. Varley passed Baillyon lap 2, Chamberlain, 3rd, went on the attack. Yu Kanamaru (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 5th, Johansson lost 3 places, Chamberlain passed Bailly, De Vries was 10th and fastest.

Chamberlain took the lead, De Vries was in full ascent, in 6th. Fastest lap for Maisano in 18th. Chamberlain, Bailly, Varley, Kanamaru, Lock and De Vries. Nicolaj Moller Madsen (Energy / TM) started ninth, Hanley 12th. Varley lost ground, Kanamaru went past to 3rd. Maisano went from 17th to 12th in the same round. Victor Sendin (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 15th, Clement Bluy (Tony Kart / Vortex) 17th.

Gerard Barrabeig (Birel / BMB) retired, De Vries threatened Varley for 4th place, Maisano was 9th. Chamberlain was 2s ahead of Kanamaru, Bailly and De Vries. They attacked Bailly with 2 laps to go and second was Kanamarus. Perhaps he prefered to stay third, but he had to control Bailly. This was what happened.
