Kevin Susilo finished the season in beauty in Lonato with DR Racing. He was already in on it in Macao, at the Asia-Pacific Championship (3rd in timed qualifying, 4th in the pre-final), though after a few problems during the race he could not achieve a positive result. But Susilo took his revenge this weekend at the WSK round.
In a rather crowded and hard-fighting pack, the young Indonesian driver staged one of his best performances of the 2009 WSK. After setting a good time in qualifying, he carved his way up the standings heat after heat. But it was not enough, yet, to enter directly the final phases. In the repechage heat he showed a great performance and recovered at least 7 places after being constantly on the attack. It was clear that the karter had built up some experience and fighting spirit, thanks to some good advice from his mentor, Danilo Rossi.
His progression continued in the pre-final, where Susilo went up from 34th to 24th place. During one of the most hard-fought finals, Kevin conquered a 19th place that has the sweet taste of success and will be one of the memorable performances of the year. A very good omen, now that Susilo is preparing the 2010 season.
