There were 4 Intrepid / TMs in the first 7 in qualifying with Jérémy Iglesias on pole, and Jonathan Thonon (CRG / Maxter) second by 2 tenths ahead of Andrea Fasberg in 3rd on an AM / Vortex, the chassis from Alessandro Manetti. One could reel off a long list of fairly surprising lap times in KZ1. It must be stressed that the weather was almost seriously disruptive, but in the end merely raised the stress up a notch among the many drivers who didn’t go out in their 1st session.
The top 3 wisely used both sessions, and were already fastest early on. They were well on the way to confirming their performance in the afternoon. Lammers (Intrepid / TM) finished with 4th position, ahead of Salvatore Gatto (Intrepid / TM). Francesco Laudato (Birel / TM) continued to be the fastest from his team, without doubt with a mechanical advance. There was a very great performance from Jaime Alguersuari (Intrepid / TM), quietly 7th but with great application and determination. Davide Fore (CRG / Maxter) came in 8th place before the first Tony Kart / Vortex, the Czech driver Patrik Hajek, Vice-Champion of Europe in KZ2.
The European KZ2 Champion, Angelo Lombardo, was down in the penultimate position after trouble in the only session where he took the track. Vainio finished up 51st, Hanley 45th, Renaudie 43rd, Convers 42nd, … In short, the hierarchy has been severely disrupted.
