After a wonderful final which had 3 successive leaders, the Dutchman Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) took the win and the European KZ1 Championship title, 6 years after the European Championships he won at Mariembourg. A moving and important victory won without challenges on a very technical track, ahead of a field full of action.

Marco Ardigo jumped ahead at the lights followed by Jérémy Iglesias and Bas Lammers. Norman Nato took 4th position from Jonathan Thonon and Thomas Knopper. Thomas Mich was severely damaged by the trouble at the first corner and was finished. Thonon attacked Nato for 4th place. Iglesias took Ardigo on the inside on the 3rd lap.

On the next lap, Lammers overcame Ardigo and Thonon also took the opportunity. On the 5th lap, Iglesias was ahead of Lammers, Thonon, Nato and Ardigo. Knopper held 6th ahead of Piccini, Kievitsbosch, Ryall, Kozlinski and Renaudie. The trio pulled away, while Ardigo dropped back a little. The gap was narrowing between Thonon and then Nato, in 3rd and 4th, then Norman attempted an attack on the CRG driver. He resisted Nato which caused him to drop back: he was now 6th. Ryall retired with a heavy heart.

Both Iglesias and Lammers at Intrepid pulled out a big gap on the 3rd place, Thonon. Ardigo was now followed by Davide Foré who was fast. This gave rise to a beautiful pass between the two champions, but ultimately Ardigo retained 4th position. The last dramatic turn of events took place on lap 18 when Lammers saw his chance and overtook his teammate Iglesias. Convers posted a great time and came back to 15th position. Abbasse’s pace was slower due to a torn radiator causing an overheating engine.

Victory to Lammers, Iglesias 2nd and Thonon 3rd.
